Upcoming Stuff You Probably Already Know About

It's been a while. Let's talk video games, shall we?

There's a ton of stuff I want to update about, but I've been bogged down by school and work and trying to catch up on sleep. But my bookmarks folder is getting pretty insane, and I'm tired of not updating. So I'm thinking I'm just going to knock everything out in one whopper of a post, seeing as most of this stuff is pretty old news, and my night class got canceled so I have three extra hours to bum around ^_^ Sorry, this is going to be pretty unorganized and to the point!

ONLINE TIMEWASTERS
To start things off, here are the two main reasons why I'm doing terribly this semester - Scrabulous (online Scrabble) and Warbook (a strategy, level-up type game), two of the most popular applications on Facebook. Be forewarned - these games are incredibly addicting.

DiggKiller is a simple shooter game where you kill recent top stories on Digg.com. I like how when the stories explode, you can collect all the comments, heh. Pretty clever.

Even though it's not really a game, the treehugger in me has to plug Consumer Consequences, a flash application that calculates how many Earths it would take to sustain life if everyone lived like you did. It takes 4 Earths for me, but there's little I change while I live in an apartment complex :(

Lastly, some of the best time wasters on the net - Grow Games. I've mentioned these before, but they're still fun and challenging, and very cute, of course. ^_^

SO YOU WANT KAWAII...
Wan! Entertainment Music Channel

I don't understand... why are the dogs dancing in little costumes??!

Angel Love Online

This MMO is called Angel Love Online 'Nuff said.

MUSICAL GAMES
To the makers of the fully functional Lego and Kiss Guitar Hero controllers - you're insane! But good work.

Anna has introduced me to Anime Song Generator, and while I'm not sure this is a game, it's closely related enough. It's a computer program that lets you create sickeningly poppy anime songs, and the results are pretty impressive. It's like GarageBand for otakus, yikes.

I haven't said anything about Rock Band yet. Wired has covered it pretty extensively, so I say just go check out their articles. But basically, it's like Guitar Hero but with the whole band, the setlist is killer, and since this game is produced by MTV, the game includes the actual songs rather than covers like in Guitar Hero and all the other Konami games (like the RATM cover in GH3 :shudder:). The only kicker? it's $200. Sigh.

SMAAAAASH BROS.
Let's see. This game will have Wi-Fi capabilities. Lucas from Mother 3 will be in the game. Watch Snake kick everyone's ass. Think that about covers everything new that interested me. Check Smash Bros. DOJO!! for daily updates.

UP AND COMING WII GAMES
Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law is coming to the Wii, PS2 and PSP this holiday season in a Phoenix Wright-like crime solving game.

Be prepared to use the force as you swing your light saber Wiimote in the upcoming Star Wars game.

Read everything you ever wondered about the new Wii title, MySims, which is high on my to-buy list.

This beautiful 2D platformer, Eternity's Child, is making the move from XBox's Live Arcade to the Wii and DS. I don't know much about this game, but it looks gorgeous, and the plot sounds intriguing.

I don't know what the heck Miburi and Teburi is about, but it's coming out for the Wii, so I guess it fits in this section. Basic description: "It's not just a crossword game, but a crossword game based on charades and cosplay." Perhaps this photo will suffice?

RELIVING THE LEGENDS
Chrono Trigger, one of my favorite games of all freakin' time, has been lovingly retranslated into clearer English! It's available in HTML, Excel files, text files, and as a playable patch. I'm excited, I'll happily replay this game.

I thought I had more for this section, but I guess Chrono Trigger is it. Whoops.

ARTSY FARTSY
The Most Stunning Gaming Fan Artwork of Zelda - Well, the title says it all. Much better than, oh say, the Zelda cosplay event that went down this Sunday to promote Phantom Hourglass. Heh.

A fabulous papercraft of Master Chief!

Wowzers. That's all I have to say.

And one of the most beautiful games of all time - Okami - now has a book completely dedicated to the art from the game. Really, it's more a study of Japanese art rather than video game art. I'd really, really like this for Christmas, thanks. ^_^

And finally, I leave you with this:

Hopefully I'll be updating again soon!

Pirates vs. Ninjas... In Dodgeball

This game sounds fun! Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball will be a downloadable game, and will support four players locally, eight players online, or four co-op. The players also aren't restricted to a left or right side of a court - they can roam around the whole area! So it's like paintball, but with a much larger ball, heh. Characters also have special moves and abilities, whatever that could mean. Did I mention there are pirates and ninjas? The game comes out sometime in 2008.

Beautiful Katamari Intro - There Are Cousins In Your Flowers

Welp, there it is. The opening to Beautiful Katamari. It's a party! Dancing red pandas! Watering elephants! Colorful 'shrooms!

 Actually I wasn't very impressed with this. I'm starting to feel a little hesitant about the game... wait, what? What is wrong with me?? I really hope they do a good job with this game, especially with the multiplayer and the soundtrack. It's gonna be hard to top Disco Prince and Everlasting Love, though.

Beautiful Katamari XBox 360 Trailer

You all love it when I post a ton of trailers all in a row, yes? Well here is another funky beat video! I can't really see any spectacular HD graphics from this trailer, but I can confirm that the new soundtrack will be fabulous. Beautiful Katamari is also rolling onto the Wii, so I won't have to miss out on all the fun!

The Destructoid crew had a chance for some hands-on action with the game, and from what I read, the game is beautiful, it makes you happy, has online gameplay, still makes weird noises, and might or might not have no loading time. Seriously, the people behind these games have discovered how to make visual crack. This game sounds just as perfect as the other two, and I can't wait for more Royal Rainbow in my life!

Blue Dragon Cut Scene Footage

So according to GameTrailers.com, this video is supposed to highlight the beautiful graphics for the upcoming Blue Dragon; however what I think it highlights for me is the horrible Dragonball-Z like voice acting. Yikes.

Beautiful Katamari Footage

With all the Katamari news I post on here, I might as well just turn this into a Katamari fan site. But anyway...

Yep. Looks exactly the same as the last two installments. Which means I'm still going to buy it ^_^ You know what I'm the most excited about though, is the soundtrack! Hope it's as good as the other two. I wonder if they'll have third cousins in this one?

Rumor: Beautiful Katamari 360 Exclusive

katamari_360.jpg

Newsweek's N'Gai Croal writes that it seems Beautiful Katamari, the next installment in the Katamari franchise, is going to be XBox 360 Exclusive. Microsoft has scored several exclusives lately (including Eternal Sonata), and he writes that it would be likely that Katamari follow suit.

Viva Piñata, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, and now Katamari. Really, the games for the XBox 360 that I'd totally buy a 360 for are just racking up. All they need to do next is come out with an exclusive Final Fantasy game, and all of Japan would convert to the XBox. I know what I want for Christmas...

Prince of Persia Classic

WELL! If the original Prince of Persia looked this pretty back then, I might have finished it instead of ran away silly every time I fell into a pit of spears. I wonder if it still flashes red when you get hit - I haven't played any of the Prince of Persias since because of those childhood memories...

This updated version of Prince of Persia will debut on XBox Live Arcade sometime in the near future. Again - I need an XBox. Donations, anyone?

Eternal Sonata Trailer

So, uh, I've been meaning to post about this game for a while, but I'm still a little confused by it. I'll let this trailer do the 'splaining for me.

But basically: Eternal Sonata, also known as Trusty Bell: Chopin's Dream in the Asian markets, is an imaginative RPG set in the dream world of a dying Frédéric Chopin's mind. The premise is that a few hours before his death, he dreamed of a world where people with incurable diseases have great magical powers.

See? It's pretty strange. But I really want to play it (I guess I'm a sucker for RPGs) and apparently it's in the number three sales spot on amazon.co.jp, despite being for the XBox 360 which isn't too popular in Japan. And, come on - it's Chopin. I love Chopin. And the game will definitely feature his music. ^_^ Now I just have to get an XBox!

Learn the Idolm@ster Dance

I don't really have any idea what this is for, but it was too adorable? to not post. I use a question mark because it kind of frightens me too. The song is from The Idolm@ster for the XBox 360, which is basically an American Idol video game for Japanese people, and the dancing characters are from Yumeria, an anime series and a PS2 game.

Well I don't think I was missing out on anything not knowing this stuff, but now I have a few more ideas for Halloween costumes and a dance to go along with it!
